Red Point, Twofold Bay : ウィキペディア英語版
Red Point (Twofold Bay)
Red Point (〔(Red Point page ) at Geoscience Australia〕) is a coastal headland in New South Wales, Australia at the southern end of Twofold Bay.
The point got its name from George Bass's description when he passed it on his whaleboat voyage to Bass Strait in 1797/8.〔Miriam Estensen, ''The Life of George Bass'', Allen and Unwin, 2005, ISBN 1-74114-130-3, page 82〕 He noted Twofold Bay "may be known by a red point on the south side of the peculiar bluish hue of a drunkard's nose"〔George Bass's Journal for 15 January 1798, in the Historical Records of New South Wales vol III, page 330, and quoted by Estensen above〕 (i.e. red with a bluish tinge).
